Allen was born to Ralph Byron and Dang Hillman.  He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, Germany, and Twin Falls, Idaho along with his sister Janette Hillman (1975). He attended and graduated from Twin Falls High School with the class of 1992.  After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 81st Platoon- Weapons Company at MCBH Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.  His first deployment was to Okinawa, Japan in 1994.  After returning stateside, he married his high school sweetheart, Heather, on January 21, 1995 and they spent their first year in Hawaii as newlyweds.  In 1996 Allen executed his second (6.mo.) deployment to Okinawa.  Shortly after his return from deployment, Allen left active duty and the couple moved to Meridian, Idaho.  Upon his return to Idaho, Allen joined the USMC Reserves at Gowen Field in Boise and consecutively began his career with the Ada County Sheriff’s Department, graduating POST in the fall of 1996.  Allen performed various roles including the Sheriff Department's Honor Guard worked and retired after 23 years of service, in 2019.  During his time with the Sheriff's Department, Allen left the Marine Corps Reserve and entered the Navy Reserve as a Master-at-Arms.  During his time in the Navy he was selected to active duty as a recruiter with Navy Recruiting District Portland.  Allen was in the Navy from 2011 to 2019 but continued his service in Navy Operational Support Center’s Volunteer Training Unit until his death.  During his time in the Navy he performed more than 200 Funeral Honors details, a job that he loved and felt honored to be a part of.  His decorations include 3 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, 4 Good Conduct Medals, a Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and 13 Recruiting Gold Wreath awards.  Allen was an integral part of our community and military and was deeply proud of both.

Allen was a proud father to 4 beautiful children:  Zachary (1997), Matthew (2000), Abigail (2003), and Christian (2010).  The Hillmans moved from Meridian to Kuna in 2004 where they still reside, along with their two cats Kato & MouMou.  Allen was full of adventure; riding his Indian motorcycle was one of his favorite pastimes.  Over the years Allen became very involved with the Indian Riders Group, gaining lifelong friendships and memories of riding all over the country.  Allen was a friend to all and always seemed to know SOMEONE everywhere he went.  Allen's love for music was no secret.  He instantly knew the name of any song along with every lyric, and wasn't afraid to sing out loud.  If you were lucky, you might get to see some of his stellar dance moves too.
